GRAND HOME PLANS

We were suppose to build our dream house last year, but as always financial consideration was a big factor and bottom line, we opted to have an area at my mother-in-laws house renovated, we find it practical to take this option since my husband is an unico hijo and nobody has stayed in the house since my father-in-law died.

Although it’s a bit of a disappointment for me, having none of my dream modern house plans realized, I got better at appeasing myself by thinking about the sensible side. This may sound so preachy, but it always pays to have good home plans, it does not only give you the satisfaction of seeing your future home laid out on a paper, it gives you perspective on how the construction is got to go along, and on top of everything, it’s cost effective.

If you are still at the initial phase of planning your home plans, I suggest you check out HousePlansandMore.com of HDA, Inc., Believe me, they have a wide variety of home plans resources, pre-prepared and custom, ranging from luxury, ranch, eco-friendly, to log home plans and many more. For those who want an actual view of the plans, you can browse their video and photo gallery for more satisfying virtual sightseeing. Check it out!

DREAMING OF RUSSIA

When everybody has been crazy thinking about a trip to Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, you might think this is out of line, but I actually been dreaming of coming to Russia. I fell in love with Russia when I read for about a year, yes, 11 months and three days to be exact, Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, there I got a good grip of Russia her rich culture, historic places and wonderful people.

But did you know that acquiring visa for Russia is not as difficult as you think. Russian tourist visa is the easiest and the cheapest visa to Russia you can get. To obtain a Russian visa for tourists it is required that you have to have an acceptance confirmation issued by a hosting Russian travel agency or a confirmed accommodation at a Russian hotel registered at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a tourist voucher issued by the same travel agency or Russian hotel.

As always Russian tourist visa is recommended for a non-business related travel. This is the best when you know exactly where and how long you will be staying in Russia without altering your planned schedules. So, why plunge yourself into a hassle, Russian Visalink Visa Services is at all the time available to assist you with all your visa needs and inquiries should you decide to travel to Russia.

So making my fingers crossed, hoarding some bucks for this dream of mine to see Kremlin in person.

UNDECIDED!

We’re almost there, citizens of this country is set again to exercise suffrage come May 10 but somebody on this side of town is still undecided.

Whether to follow my heart ….. My mother used to tell me, you will never go wrong if you follow your heart, yeah right! My heart goes for Noynoy. They say, mother knows best, well, will my mother’s words be right this time.

Or to have a mind over matter, my father once told me, in coming up with decisions …. Your mind is created above your heart, so it’s your mind that matters most. In this case, my mind goes for Gibo. Will my father be right this time?

But on that day, it’s not my mother’s nor my father’s words …..But it’s my decision. Have you decided?

(Disclaimer: Noynoy and Gibo badges are trademarks of their respective creators, and I'm in no way claiming them my own)

TO BE HAPPY AND GAY

For those who are following this blog, I have written quite a few articles about my personal musings on homosexual. I wrote once about a student of mine who bravely stood up and admit in front of his classmates that he was gay that made my class stood still for awhile.

I did not accept any teaching load this summer to monitor my children’s summer activities. While I was waiting for my daughter out side of the ballet room at Ateneo de Davao, I saw a very familiar face, holding his manly voice and said … Hi maam, I’m teaching children here how to dance, he continued saying, my family accepted me with no question at all, on a tight condition that I will be finishing school and I will be an obedient son.

I was expecting a negative reaction from his parents of his admittance, but it turned out to be well. I’ve always had great respect for these people in our society, while in general those who choose to have on this sexuality is not very much welcome, I am positive we are putting on higher levels of tolerance in terms of acceptance.

I know this category of people has been trying to fight for gay rights from all over the world, like gay Romania for instance, and I’m making my fingers crossed that somewhere, someday, these elusive privileges enjoyed by heterosexuals will also be enjoyed by our gay friends.

A VACATION IN A BREEZE

I stand by my hotel room veranda, seeing the bleeding sun streaked in dark pinkish cloud setting at the farthest horizon. I sip my coffee, with the soft breeze played my hair purifying all the reservations that enfold my mind. Then, swiftly a familiar feeling nudge me to head to the dining hall where sumptuous cuisine was prepared from the freshest and finest ingredients, after the hearty meal I feel it’s just right to work all those calories out, what can be more fitting than putting my golf shoes on and hand my clubs to the greenest and perfectly manicured fairway, I tee-off my first ball, but I cannot find where it land, then suddenly I was feeling dizzy I sense the ball tumble on my head, that’s when I woke up and realized I was dreaming.

WOWOWEE: RAINING PEOPLE AGAIN!

I’m not really a Wowowee fanatic but I watch this show. Who would have not known Willie and Wowowee; you could not be living in this islands-nation if you have not danced the ‘giling-giling’.

They’ve been to Davao some years ago, they had their show at the PTA grounds, I’m not telling you some crap here, but believe me busses and busses of people from all walks of life from the provinces around Davao City came to watch the show braving the scorching sun, expectedly, scenes like old woman fainting, mothers losing their children were just few of the incidents that happen, not to mention some cases of snatching.

Years later Wowowee came to Davao again. I remember our ‘kasambahay’ was so insistent and I was so curious too, so we drove her to AGRO where the show was held. According to the authorities here some 100th people came to watch, but call it fortunate, it rained cats and dogs, causing them to call the show off, causing also my help to leave for a week as she contracted pneumonia.

A year after, Willie again announced another stint to Davao as he wanted to make it up to his fans here because of what happened. (Villar’s campaign sortie along with Wowowee is beside the point that would be another story).

April 17 was Wowowee’s scheduled show at the AGRO again. Call it fortunate or unfortunate, it rained again. It was already drizzling when we were having grilled chicken at 'Mang Manok' for dinner, but it poured even more when we left the resto.

The ‘ismo’ me told my husband to take a side trip at Sandawa Rd. towards the AGRO grounds where Wowowee is having a show. We were just driving so slow because of the heavy rain, when we took the left turn towards Bolton Bridge, Damn Right! It was a bumper to bumper ride but it was still moving.

I’ve seen Wowowee having provincial shows only on television, and I’ve seen also sea of humanity in some other occasions related to this, but it was only last night that I have seen sea of people dared the heavy rain just to see the ‘kembot girls’ wiggle.

Apologies for not having some photos, it was really raining hard, I know it would be more grand having some photos here, but I don’t find it practical risking my gadget and my safety. Sorry guys. I know there would be lots of videos that will be uploaded in YouTube soon.

But I often ask myself this, what so wow about Wowowee? (Lucky Villar he got on the right show) (Wowowee logo appearing is a registered TM)

REMAINS OF THE OLD DABAW

These buildings are just few of the remaining old buildings along Oyanguren St., here in Davao City. With the rapid development of this city, this is feared to be pulled down sooner or later. I’m sharing this to you so you get a glimpse of the old Davao before this will be replaced with modern and contemporary architectural structure.

ON INSURING HOUSES

Her parents sold quite a number of their properties just for this nurse cousin of mine be able to get to the ‘city that never sleeps’ and finally after three years of working like a dog, wiping and washing someone’s butt, she finally got a home of her own. But she said, owning a home in The Big Apple, does not end at entering the door, you have to consider home insurance coverage to buffer uncertain losses. But she was quick to respond that there are dependable and reliable home insurance in New York that offers personalized, money-back guarantee deals which is a plus factor for a striving Overseas Filipino Worker like her. Since this is a must process she wanted to be sure about everything, so she has to turn to New York State insurance department to take charge of everything related to insuring her new house.

I really missed her cute kids. Although we often see each other virtually it’s not really as warm as seeing them in person, while for now coming to the Big Apple is not yet in the list of our priorities, I think I have to work on the double to see Big Apple someday soon.

LOOKING FOR LIGHTING FIXTURE

We are currently refurbishing a spare space in our house for my eldest son’s bedroom. We have the construction scheduled this summer as it does not disrupt the children’s schooling. We are actually staying with my mother-in-law’s house, I was in dispute with my husband at first because I wanted to have a space of our own, but since he’s an unico hijo and my mom-in-law stays here alone since father-in-law died ten years ago, I have to renegotiate a life living with her but this is out of line.

We’re half done with the construction and I almost got bald with the construction cost. Other than the painting cost, I am also looking for some lights on sale for the lighting fixtures. I know the internet offers great and varied selections, but this is just a room, it’s not that grand, so I might just settle for some lights available in our local stores.

I can’t wait for this project to end, not of excitement for a new room but to get rid of spending and swiping. Gosh, someone is sure has to blog more to replenish the spent notes.

SHOWER IN THE PARK....

When I took this photo I was grinning hard as I overheard a seasoned lady at the side saying, nganong ang mga bata lang man ang pwede maligo diha? (Why do kids only are allowed to bathe in there?) Well, obviously these fountains were not meant for bathing, but me and my big mouth, without second thoughts jokingly told the lady, ... you actually can, just think we don't exist. Just what I expected she replied, nakakahiya (so embarrassing), the obvious reason why I restrain myself from bathing too.... LOL!

THE STOCK BROKER

I got my crash course on matters of stock trading last night when I agreed to meet a long lost friend of mine. I was really stunned when I saw him, he’s a stock trader now for a posh company in Makati, back when we were in high school I can still remember he was that nerdy fella that finds a seat on a corner and play his brick game, his transformation from ugly duckling to a brisk, young executive really wowed me.

And what amazed me more was his expertise in stock exchange, he was taking about option trading systems as more powerful than stock trading as it allows one to potentially make over 10 times more money on the same move in the underlying stock than buying the stock itself. He was insistent in saying that this is the ultimate strategy of the rich to gain more financial freedom and dominate the market. No wonder, he’s driving a Lexus now and cuddling some pretty girls. If you want to know more about this trading strategy, there are sites that offer advisory service that uses an options trading system that focuses on making consistent returns under all market conditions using two option trading strategies.

After all the hellos and the his, I got my dose of lesson learned last night; never underestimate someone, especially the underdogs.

INDULGE ...

... why not! This is one of my favorite restos here in the city. I love their fried and fresh lumpia, love the choco moist cake too. Weekends are never complete without indulging with these sinful (who cares) foodstuff. So the next time you visit Davao, try visiting this resto. This one is in Gaisano Mall, but they have outlets all over the city.

Happy Monday everyone!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGN

In today’s market where possibilities are endless, where countless brands, countless designs, logos, images, and beyond belief services proliferate, businesses should extra effort, take extra measures to go beyond the normal setting to make their brand names recognized, and one of the compelling strategies to make your business identified is to come up with a logo that will best represent your business entity.

Logo design is very significant for the visual representation of any business. It is considered one of the tools which help in giving the first impression of the business. If you plan to start a trade much consideration should be accorded to creating a logo design that will, as I have said best represent your business entity. The internet can be an excellent resource in finding good designer market, one of them is Attorney and Legal Logo Designs, in fact, if you have a hand and an eye for designs they have quite a number of logo contests going one.

Logo design has many rewards for business entities, it promotes your business professionally in the market, it helps in attract potential patrons and client to the business via design recall, it gives a distinctive and innovative identity to the business and most importantly it can serve already as your business name.

IT BLOOMED!

This is my firs time to join Today's Flowers meme.

For the longest time, 2 years I think, I have been waiting for this snake plant (sanseveria) to bloom, finally my everyday effort paid off. According to old tales, if a snake plant blossoms, it will bring luck to the grower. If that’s the case, then I’m one lucky earthling.

I don’t want to keep all the luck to myself so I’m sharing my good luck to you. Enjoy!
