ART EXHIBIT FOR PEACE IN MINDANAO

I’m preempting my Color of the Day post as I visited an art exhibit today at G-Mall here in Davao City. This exhibit is sponsored by the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and runs November 20-22, 2009. It’s called Nawan: Kalinaw-Mindanao, Advancing Co-initiatives For Strengthening a Culture-of-Peace in Mindanao. This is just one of the worthwhile events made along with the celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace.

I was just so sad people just don’t care enough to drop by and look around. I don’t know personally some of the artists though and I’m sharing photos of the works of those that I know.

English Translation – PICTURES OF PEACE

”Hung-Hong sa Kinaiyahan” – Artist Noy Narciso (this is somewhat like shells of fruits woven together)

”Shade the World” – Artist, Jeff Bangot. I love this piece, he used coco shell as media, 24x22 inches

”One Blood” – Artist, Eugene Canadilla, a piece that truly depict peace, acrylic in canvas, 110x80cm
