We’re far from where the action is, thank God for high-technology that made us feel were part of today’s historic event. I was glued to my television this morning watching live the inauguration of the 15 th President of the Republic of the Philippines, we’ll, who doesn’t know it has been declared a national holiday.
I think the Aquino family’s mission really is meant to salvage the democratic being of this country every time it is on the brink of peril. Think about the heroic deed their patriarch was into that cost him his life, telling us all that we ‘are worth dying for’ that eventually pulled this country from the hands of the former dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.
Those series of historic events in the late 80’s that put the Philippines in the limelight made his mother assume presidency, that made her known to be the icon of democracy, nurtured that democracy, that I think every person of today’s generation must have already that lucid recall of what happened during those fateful days until the day she died in her hospital bed.
Time and again, after 9 years of Gloria Arroyo’s stay in power, although she also has made several accomplishments as a president, she above all made the people of this country doubtful whether we will still have that good life she has promised in her inaugural speech back in Cebu and true enough, we were given the benefits of our doubts, tagged even as the most unpopular president of all time.
So then people yearn again for that elusive change …. I hate this word especially when it is linked to politics. Again, from the Aquino clan, if I may call him the reluctant president, heeding to the people’s clamor for that damn change he opted to run and God bless Mar Roxas for his willing heart to give way for that change.
So now from this day forward, NOYNOY AQUINO we are counting on you, especially your promise to the people of Mindanao.
The future looks bright and it would even be brighter and merrier if Kris Aquino will run for president six years from now…. Tsk! Tsk! Who knows …? What she jokingly said on her farewell speech on The Buzz will be another page in our history books.
Just some packets of thought on this side of town. Thanks for dropping by.

WHEN LIGHTS WON’T WORK
OK, Ok, I’m back to my senses now after some moments of angst over a P15 fare. My slump moments made me want to sleep early tonight, but I remember I bought a Sarah Ivens book ‘No Regrets’ last weekend, and I thought it would be a good sleeping dose but when I switched on our bedroom nightstand the lights are not working, I think it also felt sorry for me. I should replace it with new one, might as well look for dainty styles online, how I wish the shipping is free.
But what can be more comforting than putting the book under your pillow and snore those woes away. But our Karaoke neighbors here keep shouting to their hearts delight, I can’t sleep, might as well do some searching, adgitizing and dropping.
So there, some packets of life’s moments on this side of town.

VERNZ IS SAD!
I was in a hurry to get back home yesterday when I received a text message from Cebu Pacific Air informing me of their P15 all domestic flight fare promo in honor of the proclamation of the 15 th president. Booking will be from June 28-30 and the travel period will be from Oct to Nov. Gosh, this is what we are waiting for, its so timely since the travel time is already a school semestral break, I’m bringing the whole troop to Manila as my children has been bugging me to see Manila’s Ocean Park.
To my dismay, all seats taken, all SOLD OUT, gosh imagine I have to pay 30K for the fare alone for the five of us plus our hotel accommodation in Manila, not to mention shopping and everything in between. I’m no rich momma, eh!
I’m really sad! HUHUHU! Hope there will be another promo in honor of his first day in Malacanang. LOL! Your comment will make me happy! Thanks for dropping by.

WEEKEND AT KRUA THAI
We normally spend weekends eating out and we had it at Krua Thai, an authentic Thai restaurant along Torres St., of this city. We had dined here once that was long before I had my cameras ready on hand. We love eating here, not only that the orders are served at a very considerable time, the ambiance is so great, I love the intricately carved wall decors and on top of it all, it's a child friendly resto and have courteous staff. If you want to experience authentic Thai cuisine here at the city Krua Thai is a perfect stop. They are conveniently located along Torres St., right beside Metro Lifestyle Plaza fronting the Department of Education XI office, I don't think I have to provide you more with an absolute location, LOL! For more of our eating adventures and more dining stories, please see my food blog, TABLE FOR FIVE.

BUILDING LINK FOR MY NEW BLOG
I was at first so very hesitant to come up with a blog, I was thinking the computer might blow should I tweak and click those words with little hands, but when I started; I never thought it would be this fun, eh!
And now I’m flying my fifth baby. Finally, after so much deliberation it has been decided, LOL! My fifth blog will be named, TABLE FOR FIVE. It was Food, Culture and Me at the beginning but my husband and everybody around here has been protesting that it is so academically sounding, so I decided to drop it and named it Foodie Davao, but when I checked around there has already been blogs named Davao Foodie, Davao Foods and dropped that idea again. So now this is final, since my family has five members and this is our well-versed lines whenever we eat out, we decided to name it Table for Five, but since this came way after Paula has released the last batch of BC Bloggers, I beg your kind fingers to include this blog in your link list.
I can’t afford to hire Internet Marketing Company to do this job for me, but I’m positive with your support guys, this blog will rise from the ranks.

FINDING EYEWEAR ONLINE
Finally, after all the flipping and the browsing I’m down to the last book I’m reading for my friends MA Review of Related Literature requirement. I’m feeling like I’m all dried up, my brain, my throat telling my kids here to stop bugging me so I can finish the job on time and on top of it all I feel like my eyes have little sands in it. My daughter is teasing me to cry so that my eyes can take a bath, Oh I didn’t realized she has that wit at 5. She was correct, tears bathe the eye and wash out dust and little debris and keeps it moist.
But one obvious culprit to this eye problem of mine, well, needless to argue, it is also caused by too much exposure to computer monitor, in other words, long hours of blogging, sometimes I do marathon blogging because I’m stealing the time when my kids are at school and no ones around to bother me.
Just now I thought, why are all my blogging friends having eyewears? Yeah maybe blogging and eyewears are now two indispensable tools for a successful stint online. I have not tried using prescription eyewear yet, but maybe this time I will consider browsing eyewear from online stores.
Thanks everyone for dropping by on this side of town.

REMEMBERING THE VIRGIN FORESTS
Joining this weeks Nostalgia at Nostalgic Marveling.
This photo was taken back in the early 80s when my father still worked as a forester in a logging company in Sultan Kudarat. We went to visit him literally in the middle of the forest; there were access roads though so this humungous logging truck can pass through.
The community in the middle of the forest was composed of the family of those who worked also with the company. But since I was in school we seldom go up to the boondocks and visit him.
Gosh, I didn’t realize until lately that my father worked then as an agent to destroy those lush forests, LOL! Being a tree expert he identifies names of the tree, species of the tree, how old is the tree and many more about trees before it will be chained-sawed and loaded to this PiterBilt. But eventually my father resigned but he was recalled and stationed at the office and later retire. Glad I was able to pose as a remembrance that once those forests produced these huge logs and that once our motherland was robbed of these resources and only few mighty and rich had benefited and amass tons of money, destroyed our carbon sink that also made my father a small-time pensioner. LOL!

EAT ALL YOU CAN AT P99
… Yeah, that’s how cheap it is eating to your hearts delight here. You can have variety of sea foods cooked in varied styles down to adobo of your choice, to saucy, spicy meat stuff and the like. I frequent this restaurant before, I come here early just when the first serving is opened but when my doctor said to slow down eating crabs and saucy, salty foods, I just sigh seeing this sign. Kuya Eds Restaurant is located along Magallanes St., fronting Grand Men Seng Hotel here. If you’re in the city and not mindful of your diet, engulf yourself to just P99 eat all you can eat. See if you still can stand up and walk.

PERILOUS PASTIMES
A friend called this morning telling me that her brother’s son was in the hospital and they need several bags of blood for transfusion. A crazy-busy mom told about this shocking story in a morning where you still have lots of things at hand would somehow made your adrenalin rush. Apparently, they were got caught by the police drag racing somewhere along Diversion Road of this city and they hurried out of the area, unfortunately, he was sideswiped by a speedy trailer truck that made the accident.
A mom’s mouth in the morning hurriedly told my son, to stop his obsession with motor bike racing, well, he’s not engage into drag racing yet as he is still a minor, but me and my morbid thinking, just a sort of a reminder that this thing can land you in a hospital and worst you will be seeing San Pedro sooner than expected and I told him to please don’t let me beg for blood. Huh!
But I don’t know he’s really a big fan of Dirt Bike Races that made me worry all the more. Anyway, I was not able to donate blood, it was all dried up after he told me the entire story, if my blood was type B then I could have dragged myself to Red Cross, but my blood is damn dried blue. Thanks for dropping by everyone on this side of town.

I’M CEREBRALLY CHALLENGED
I’m down to the last three of twelve books I have to review for a friends MA requirements, although it’s a paid thing, well, nothings free. Seems like all my wits are squeezed down to its last drop. Dang! I’m truly cerebrally challenged, I’m all dried up. I was not able to update this blog for several days already. Anyway, I’ll keep up after all these mind-cracking things are done.

PICTURING MYSELF
We were passing by this pet store along Magsaysay St. when my son told me to stop for a while as he wanted to see some hermit crabs. While waiting outside I got amazed by the figurines inside the aquarium, I was trying to capture a photo of myself with a mermaid figurine inside the aquarium, but I'm still learning how to use my handy Olympus T100, (well the thing I bought with what was left after all the tuition fees of my school buddies has been paid) there's a bit of a disappointment since I thought it did not turn out the way I thought it would, but when I uploaded it to my computer, ahhh I amaze myself eh!
This is me with the yellow carps and blue ice
my curious son with the arowana
and our ever beloved Traffic Officer captured through, nyahahah!

MY DSL CONNECTION WAS DOWN
Feeling like I’m disengaged from the outside world after four days of no DSL connection, according to sloppy technicians it sometimes can happen due some technical grounds beyond my control. Waaah! Poor unfortunate soul, it happened to me. Anyway, I’m back online and ‘dating gawi’. Thank you friends for dropping your comments, I’m sure have to keep-up returning all the favors.
Have a great day, thanks for peeping on this side of town.

AT MAMMA MARIA'S
We went to try Mamma Maria's Pizzeria on an Independence night, since it was a newly opened pizza house, people just got curious that's why we waited some 30 minutes to get a table. We tried their Carbonara, the sauce sucks, we tried their spaghetti, its too sour, we tried their crocodile pizza, we were eaten up waiting for so long. Service? Sucks. Verdict? not coming back again. But if you are curious to try what I'm saying, they're located along Torres St, Corner JP Laurel Ave., just beside Sychar Hotel, Davao City. So there, I think you'll not get lost finding your way to the 1-hour of wait pizzeria.

What is the difference between putting/listing all my links in the Blog Roll/List and putting/posting my links like a regular blog post like as it appears in MY LINKS?

THE BREAST OF THE FUTURE
I’m processing Human Behavior in Organization with 38 proactive students this term and last night we had a heated class discussion about biological heritage as a determinant of someone’s personality. As always expect for the unexpected with these kinds of students.
Someone raised her hand and said, Oh! That’s the problem with God, if all of us we’re created equal then why did He made Keanna Reeves plump chested and me flat chested? It took me some ten minutes to just listen to them arguing at each other and finally calm them down.
And then I said, OK, all of your reasons are valid no right or wrong answer here, this is not a Mathematics class where 1 is always 1. And I jokingly address the whole class, that’s just a very minor problem, in today’s technology someone can now literally play God, you can have breast implants kona if you really wanted to have that look and alter your given biological make-up.
She was quick to answer and said, you boys! Watch out for Pamela Anderson me five years from now. Although I stood up for two straight hours, it was a very fulfilling session. Thanks for dropping by on this side of town.

FREEDOM, VICTORY FOR THE PEOPLE
In Honor of my country’s 112th Independence Day which carries the theme "Kalayaan, Tagumpay ng Bayan" (Freedom, Victory for the People). I’m sharing some of the flag photos I randomly capture these past months.
This first photo is my entry to Newtown Area Photo’s Weekend Reflections. I took this during my son’s dance class at Metrolifestyle fronting Department of Education building along Torres St., here in Davao.

SCOUTING FOR A HOST
When I first started blogging I never thought it would be this rewarding and fun, not to mention meeting a lot of friends and earning around this sphere. I was wondering at first how others can maintain multiple blogs and still in their right shape of mind, but lately seems like I’m jumping into the bandwagon of blog geeks. I already have successfully launch my dream photoblog although on a free platform, nonetheless, I don’t mean to monetize that blog, and I’ve been thinking lately of coming up with a food blog. I have been scouting for business hosting sites though but I’m still hesitating to start it because of time constraints. But one thing is sure I’ll have it in its own domain the first day of its launch.
Will this be feasible? I know it will be with your generosity and support, thanks for supporting all my blogs.

WIN SOME, LOSE SOME
I was in high spirits seeing my co-teachers last night; the happy affair ended up with a sad moment someone from the group is resigning because of pressures brought about by having to raise a family single handedly. But on the side she was very hesitant to tender her papers because of money matters.
Least she knew, I was also thinking of resigning too even before the classes started as I was in the same dilemma as hers. If only I wallowed on a lot of moolahs, or might as well consider betting a chance on online casino gambling, the easiest way out, why not? Yeah, I’m serious, who cares about what this white-robed fellows has to say, I would take my chance, and this would mean knowing Blackjack, Keno, Bingo, Baccarat and the rest.
Well, that is what life is all about you win some, lose more often. Thanks for dropping by on this side of town.

Nostalgia at Rose's Blog
100 YEARS OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE …. 12 years ago … for the first and the last time I was able to wear an Imeldific-look,(in blue terno) naks! This was during the celebration of the Philippine Centennial 12 years ago. This look worth all the gripping and the holding of breath,
I won an Alvaro Jimenez painting during the event raffle, gallery worth during that time P48K, now, I wonder how much this painting cost. All of the pieces exhibited during that time were painted on dried banana skin and so this one.
I missed wearing body hugging clothes, seems like somebody would be committing a sin mocking me at my back seeing me in this outfit now.
Anyway, can’t think of something more to write, just came from a three-hour straight lecture… jocks, dried throat, dried brain ……
See you again next week at Rose’s Nostalgic Marveling.

PRAGMATICS OF SIGNS
After all the election craze, after all the millions of money has spent I think everybody now has come back to their senses and beginning to face the real macoy of our present Philippine political situation.
And talking about the political scene of Davao City, the Dutertes has once again proven their capabilities to hold power as they retain their seats whether the daughter is the mayor or the father is the vice-mayor, or whichever thing is, they still hold the key.
But unknown to those who are not from Davao there are still on-going rifts among the losers and the winners here. The infamous Speaker of the house Boy Nograles never conceded but rather made a protest claiming he was cheated, as always the case when losing in an election. But their rift did not just start right after Inday Sarah was proclaimed mayor, maybe even before I was born, that’s what the older folks have told me here. But during the May 10 elections it started with throwing mud at each others face, the Nograles camp claimed:
And the Duterte camp retaliated
Ok, the Dutertes won, hoping for the best, as they say so.
But it did not end there. There are still other parties involve. Our constitution provides that there should be a separation of Church and the State, well, in theory… Yes! But not in practice… long before the election started Father Pete Lamata, a parish priest at Buhangin Church has entered a rift with pareng Rody, accusing the later of corruption and the like, Duterte retaliated about Pete, a priest having a wife and more hits below the belt. Discreetly Fr. Pete supported Nogie, of course as the situation called for. So, again the Dutertes won, and it turned out to be …..
Although the Dutertes did not openly claimed posting all these banners, many had assumed the Dutertes did, and according to the barangay captain where these posters were planted, not until somebody naming Pete would claim and complain about these posters, they will not tear it down.
So as of press time, these posters are still there, as I have just taken this yesterday when we went to visit a friend in Cabantian area.
So that’s how I interpreted all these signs randomly posted around this city.
Thanks for dropping by.

PIKAT NIMO is a bisayan expression with a gesture of putting your finger under your eyes and stretch it open, usually done in disgust over someone in simply childish and playful insolent manner.

ON HUNT FOR CHAIR DESIGNS
When the old Holy Cross of Agdao wooden building was torn down we were privilege to buy some of the sturdy antique woods used as braces of that old building. We don’t know yet what to do with those woods thus were stuck under our grandma’s old house, but lately I met this old friend of ours who now is into furniture business. I’ve long been thinking of buying new set of Dining Chairs and I thought of having those woods made into chairs of my own design, my own design eh!
So, that will be my next project, we are still negotiating with the labor pay and the venue of the assembly. But on top of it all, I’m no chair designer, thank God to online resources where I can envisage some prototypes of this project.
Anyway, I’ll be posting some updates if this project will push through, thanks for dropping by.

But this time, I’m determined; I missed EC dropping and Adgitizing more than sleeping with this head-crack causing Mr. F.. Guys, promise I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, just finding a way to dump this nose-drip causing fella.
Thanks for supporting on this side of town.

Thursday
I SCALED HEIGHTS …
…I crossed rivers, I took nothing but pictures, I killed nothing but time, I left nothing but footprints…… yayks! Indeed can’t help but being nostalgic about those times frozen on these photos.
This was during the summer of 1998 National Mountaineering Congress and Climb at Mt. Candalaga in Compostela Valley Province. Nung Kabataan ko ….. ahahahaha! I just don’t swim I also climb … toinks…… but seriously I was very active in various activities related to this …. As in climb here and there….
Anyway, it all started with a bus ride from Davao City to the town of Maragusan in Compostela Valley Province, we were directed then to the Municipal Hall for briefing…. Tired and weary traveler, no place to rest but here;
After the briefing we were all loaded to this dump truck to be dumped (LOL!) at the base camp ….
For a long journey ahead! Smile! (I missed these people, we seldom see each other now, and some I don’t even know where they are now)
From the base camp to the top camp, we passed by seven falls and crossed countless rivers, stamped countless mosquitoes and cried a river for every leach that sipped my blood …
The Statue of Mary like falls …. It’s an unadulterated nature; it’s really a diwata haven.
I’m particularly proud of this one, nyahahahah…. No other way but to scale this hanging stair beside this falls, do it, go back alone, or sleep in the middle of the jungle alone, choose one among those three, no ifs, no buts. I gave all my strength and threw all my fears here …
At the top camp, and a souvenir photo with some other climbers from all over the Philippines.
Going down was just so swift as their were trails already made by the native farmers on the area, unlike our going up expedition where there was no trail at all, you have to tail with the group or else you’ll get lost.
When you get to the edge of the jungle this view will meet you, you will see the whole Compostela Valley.
I just can’t help but being nostalgic, I just realized I’ll just pass this way but once, and I'm glad I did. See you again next Thursday for another Nostalgic Marveling at Rose’s blog. Thanks for dropping by on this side of town.
Anyway, it all started with a bus ride from Davao City to the town of Maragusan in Compostela Valley Province, we were directed then to the Municipal Hall for briefing…. Tired and weary traveler, no place to rest but here;
After the briefing we were all loaded to this dump truck to be dumped (LOL!) at the base camp ….
